Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026
Introduction
Learn AI (formerly StudyAI) turns your own study material into a course: study plans, slides, quizzes, flashcards, homework help and an AI tutor. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, who processes it, and your choices. Learn AI has no account, no sign-up and no advertising. By using Learn AI (the “Service”), you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We never ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts or location. The app handles the following:
- Your study material: PDFs, photos of pages or homework, audio files, YouTube links, text you paste, and the questions you ask the tutor. It is stored on your device. To create your results, it is sent to our AI provider (see below). We do not use it to build a profile of you.
- Device identifier: a random identifier that is specific to Learn AI on your device (on iPhone it is kept in the Keychain, so it survives reinstalling the app). It is not your advertising identifier. We use it to count free-tier usage, to link your subscription status, and to connect analytics and crash reports from the same device. You can see it at the bottom of Settings.
- Usage data: which features and screens you use and events such as “plan created”, “quiz finished” or “paywall shown”, with coarse details like the type of source, rough length buckets, counts, the AI model used and its token count, and your answers to the short onboarding questions (study goal, level, subjects, deadline, daily time). Usage data does not include the content of your material, questions or answers.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and error logs (stack traces, device model, OS and app version).
- Usage counters and subscription status: stored on our server under your device identifier — how many free actions you used this month, whether you have a free, trial or premium plan and when it renews or expires, your platform, and timestamps.
- Purchases: if you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. We receive the subscription status and transaction details through Adapty. We never see your payment card details.
- Feedback: if you rate the app inside Learn AI and write a comment, we store the rating, the comment and your device identifier.
Please do not add sensitive personal information (for example health data or other people’s private information) to the material you study with.
How We Use Your Information
- Providing the Service: to create study plans, slides, quizzes, flashcards, summaries, homework explanations and tutor answers from your material.
- Free tier and Premium: to count free-tier limits and to unlock Premium on your device.
- Improving the Service: to understand which features help people learn, fix bugs and crashes, and test changes (feature flags).
- Support: to answer your messages and, if you send us your device identifier, to find or delete the records linked to it.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, we do not use your advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
AI Processing
Learn AI uses Google’s Gemini models through Firebase AI Logic. When you use an AI feature, the relevant text, photos, scanned PDF pages, audio or video captions are sent to Google to produce your result. Text from PDFs that already have a text layer is extracted on your device, and only pages that are images are sent as pictures. To illustrate slides, the app may send pictures it found on Wikimedia Commons or PubChem to Gemini to check that they fit. Google processes this content under its own terms and privacy policy. AI output can be wrong — check important answers against your textbook.
Third-Party Services
Learn AI relies on the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase: AI Logic / Gemini (AI processing), Analytics (usage data), Crashlytics (crash reports), Cloud Firestore (usage counters, subscription status and feedback), Remote Config (app settings, which receives your device identifier) and App Check (protects our services from abuse).
- PostHog: usage analytics, error reports and feature flags. Data is stored in the United States.
- Adapty: subscription and trial management. Adapty may forward subscription events to our analytics under the same device identifier.
- Apple App Store: processes all payments and manages your subscription.
- YouTube: when you add a YouTube link, the app requests the video page and its captions directly from YouTube.
- Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and PubChem: the app searches them for free-licence pictures using keywords about your topic. These requests come from your device and do not include your material.
Data Retention & Deletion
- On your device: your material, plans, quizzes, flashcards and homework stay on your device until you delete them or the app. Plans, quizzes, homework and flashcards that the chat saved as drafts and you never opened are deleted automatically 7 days after they were created.
- On our server: usage counters, subscription status and feedback are kept while you use the app. Because there is no account, deleting the app does not delete them — email us your device identifier from Settings and we will delete them.
- With providers: analytics and crash data are kept according to each provider’s retention settings, and deleted on request together with the records above.
- Permissions: you can revoke camera or photo access at any time in your device Settings.
Children’s Privacy
Learn AI is a study tool for students and other learners. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under the age required to consent to data processing where you live, use Learn AI only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we will delete the related records.
International Data Transfers
Learn AI is available in many countries. Your information may be processed on servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States. We rely on our providers’ safeguards for such transfers.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information. To make a request, email us and include the device identifier shown at the bottom of Settings, so we can find the records linked to it. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Learn AI after an update means you accept the revised policy.
